Identifying this Hamilton Watch

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if someone could help me possibly identify this Hamilton watch? The owner selling it says it’s vintage from the 60s but i’m having trouble finding the model on the internet. If anyone knows what model this is and has any info on it, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a bunch😁

There are over 1000 known Hamilton models from their founding until they became part of Swatch. There are many "mystery" models as well. These are probably real Hamiltons. Like Bulova, they had an awards division and cobbled together parts from different models.

Start here. This is the best website that I know for Hamilton identification. The one I linked to is close, but the numerals are different. So, search the years and try to find that one.

As always, a picture of the movement and inside of the case are important for Hamilton vintage purchases.

Greg, I just did some digging and it looks like the model is the Hamilton Accumatic A502. These were only built in ‘63 and ‘64. It’s movement looks to be the ETA2451. Does that ring a bell to you in anyway?

This is correct.  The movement will likely be a marked as a Hamilton 689A.

I built a page to easily search Hamilton information with various ways to search depending on what you know about the watch in question.  This is the index page that leads to the various pages.

The downside is that some of the images have been lost over time.  It’s still mostly complete though.

You may have to join the site to see it.

That must have taken forever to put together. I have bookmarked it for future use. I have one small niggle however, I think that you have misidentified the "Roland".

It was only made in 1948:

A new crystal for this is being delivered on Tuesday. (The wrong crystal has been bugging me for 15 years.)

I defer to @Davemcc  on Hamilton. He and @ChronoGuy have the most experience with them on WC. It does look like you found it.

It did take years to compile the data doing a little every day.  I haven’t had the time to maintain it for a few years now and it has fallen into some disrepair without the constant maintenance and broken link replacement.  Also, and I hate to say it, my interests in the watch hobby have gradually drifted away from a narrow focus on vintage Hamilton.

Anyway… There is a 1948 Roland and a 1955 Roland that is completely different.  Hamilton frequently reused model names.  The image link to the 1948 model seems broken right now.

I just noticed that all the links to the catalog images have been broken.  Yikes!!!   That’s going to put a damper on things.

That's right it's a 1963 Accumatic A-502 - my reference for anything Hamilton is http://www.hamiltonchronicles.com/2012/08/1963-502-overhall.html
