H. Moser replied to my email, and it made my year.

I'll let the email speak for itself.  It just made me really happy.

From me:

Hello!

I have a general fan question regarding the construction of the hands of the Pioneer Centre seconds.  As I'm unlikely to have the opportunity to see an example in the flesh anytime soon, I figured a curious email wouldn't hurt.

How on earth is the lume applied to this model?!  The complexity of the hands baffles me.  Granted, I know little about how lume is applied in the workshop for any watch, but these seem so different to other models.  Is the luminous material a separate piece that is somehow created and added later?

I appreciate that this might not be the most urgent email you receive today, but it would delight me to no end to learn a bit more about this unique piece.  Owning one of your watches remains a goal of mine should I be lucky enough to do well in this world, but for the moment this is the best I can do as a fan.

Thank you,

Samuel ______

The reply:

Dear Samuel,

Thank you for your inquiry and your enthusiasm for the details of our timepieces.

This type of hands while glowing in the dark create the impression that the hands are floating and not connected to the axe in the center.

The hands are made of the 3D light element "Globolight®". In the appendix you can find some drawings to understand the construction.

We hope that these details were helpful and we are at your disposal for any further questions.

Sincerely yours,

Oh my, you must have gotten goose bumps, I did. H. Moser is my grail brand, too. If I ever get into a position to buy one I will know I have made it. Thanks for sharing

I have to agree - Moser is absolutely amazing. Every year, a new model that just takes my breath away. Nice job!

·

It’s pretty impressive that they took the time to write a detailed response even after you made it clear that you’re unlikely to be a customer any time soon. That’s class.

·

Absolutely class act, Moser is.

·

Very cool!  Let's hope they stay this in touch with the fans 👏👏

Thats cool, and if other watch companies only knew how much this means to the consumer...it makes their company human and part of the watchfam....thanks for sharing!

This is a great point. It amazes me how a top luxury segment watch company takes the time to engage with their customers, while mass market/home shopping network brands hide from their phone calls and letters. I guess that's what makes brands like Moser major league, while the sock drawer stuff only cares about duping a new series of marks.

Moser customer service is awesome. I've spoken on the phone a couple times with the guy who emailed you. He was helping me try to track down a specific reference in Germany. It ended up not being available anymore but he went out of his way to help me.

Moser makes high-end watches but they're very unpretentious.
