Huge wrists, tiny watch - Cartier Tank Must Small

Hello, just sharing a personal experience with this watch.

My wrists are a tiny bit larger than average.
I have some bigger watches, but I fell in love with this little Cartier watch.

Compared to a Longines DolceVita, the Longines is more than twice the size as you can see here.

After wearing the Cartier Tank Must Small for a week, the Longines now feels too big and chunky in comparison and perhaps a tad flashy, it is still a beautiful watch of course.

At the Cartier boutique in Paris near the Opèra I had tried the Tank Must Large, what is confusing about it is that there is an XL that I didn't know about that could rival my Longines in size.

The people at the shop never proposed the Small version to me, only the Large and XL but they both felt off to me, they didn't look like the Cartier Tank Louis Muhammad Ali used to wear and I wanted that classic look.

Sadly Cartier seems to think that the Tank Must Small is not for men because they don't show any pictures of men wearing them, except on the Swiss site!

Now I can't take it off, sometimes I think it's too small even freakishly small for me but then I see it from other angles and it just looks classic, discrete.

Personally, I feel that am going to have a hard time going back to larger watches for a very long time.

Thanks for reading and enjoy your watches!

i personally think it looks a little bit too small on your wrist. but that just my opinion 😂. lookin at the dolce vita proportion is more like cartier tank americane than the regular tank

If you can read the time at a glance it is not too small.

Amen to that!

I posit that people that actually try wearing a small watch get over the idea that they like cumbersome watches, while those that never dabble persist in ignorance and inexperience.

more than twice the size as you can see here.

I 'm not sure that any single dimension is doubled. But you've noticed that increasing a case dimension by even a few millimeters may sound insignificant but has a substantial effect on area.

Hi OscarKlossoff, more than double the size is correct, especially in volume:

Cartier Tank Must Small = 29.5×22×6 = 3894 millimeters3

Longines DolceVita = 47×28.2x10.3 = 13 651.62 millimeters3

Yes that’s it, even people at the JLC shop thought it was an Américaine 😀 I had to tell them it’s just a humble Longines

I went to the same and feel your point. Although my wrist at 5,9-6" almost woman like tiny, I had a hard time deciding between the large and the small version. The large looks more mainstream in size but if you want to go for the Cartier classic and vintage like look, you have to go with the small version. At a Cartier boutique the salesman told my too that I had to go with the large version because the small one is a women's watch. Really confused me but I ended up with the small version. What a nice watch and an excellent choice! 👌

By the way in my humble opinion I think the dial arrangement on the small version looks better. In the large one the numerals and empty space looks kind of stretched if you know what I mean.

Good on you that you didn’t listen to the sales rep. 😀

What is your wrist size?

8 in

The small suits you great. I have the large - but - it’s really not large. And I find it the perfect size for me.
