Vintage and Wabisabi

So I remembered one of WC’s prominent members Mr. @WabiSabiMaster out of the blue, and I decided to look into wabisabi as a philosophy. After a few youtube videos later I feel zen and enlightened 🤣✌️. But seriously I love the focus on the simple, the imperfections, the ephemeral, and the beauty of the flawed and broken.

And it hit me that our appreciation of the patina and its “character” in vintage watches plays to the wabisabi philosophy. The beauty in its natural aging and the marks of the day to day are records of the watch’s history. Whether its a mundane or extraordinary life, the aesthetic of the watch as it is, is its story.

So I did a photograph of my closest wabisabi watch, together with a cup of relaxing tea so that everyone has a chill Sunday. ☕️

The vast majority of my collection came from somebody else's junk drawer. The scuffs and scratches make them unique. That's a big part of why I keep them.😊

Well said 👏👏👏 the watches we wear hold our story as much as the wrinkles on our face and the tan on our back.
