Speedy Or Navitimer?

I’ve been saving for years to buy a Speedy. A once in a lifetime purchase. Now I’m weeks away and I just discovered to Navitimer B01 41mm and I’m torn. Any suggestions? Having a date is important but the Speedy is so legible on the other hand. Not sure what to do

Navy i think is a legend too an underreted one

I would stick to the Speedy. I have this same thing when I'm saving for a watch and then when I'm close, I am now in the price point for other watches, and my eye starts to wander. Not a huge Navitimer fan, still a fantastic watch, but the Speedy is so incredibly versatile and kinda subtle, which I like. That being said, get what speaks to you, good luck!

Speedy, don’t deviate

I’ve got a thing for the Navi as well, but there is simply no substitute for a Speedy.

And I eventually determined that the Navitimer was less versatile and cooled on it hard.

If you've been wanting a Speedy for years, it probably makes sense to satisfy that desire. If the same AD has both, it might be a good idea to try them both on and compare side by side, just remembering that if you get the Navi, you may still have that burning desire for a Speedy, while the reverse may not be true.

My personal preference would be for the Speedy, but that's just me, and only you can decide which one you really prefer. They are both great watches. Best of luck with your decision.

I’ve had a Speedy and don’t miss it. For me, I think the Navitimer would be keeper where the Speedy wasn’t.

If you are thinking 41mm Navitimer, just stick with the Speedy! According to my ad whose family has been retailing Breitling watches for more than 30 years after moving the family business to Canada from Italy nobody buys the 41mm Iteration anyways. Guys who love the Navitimer do not actually love the new versions launched a few years ago.

To your point, I think the less flashy look of the Speedy is what gets me. The Navitimer is beautiful but flashy - more suitable for when I’m dressing up. The Speedy can be dressed up or down. Since this is my first watch purchase of this caliber and possibly (but hopefully not) my only watch of this caliber, I want to get the most versatile looking watch possible which is obviously the speedy

I wonder if it would make sense to buy the speedy now and then buy a pre owned Navitimer later down the road and hopefully save money on a pre owned model. The pre owned market on the Navitimer seems “softer” than the Speedy

No doubt a lot more fans of the speedy imo. I have a DSOM because I am fond of black and ceramic. The Navitimer with BO1 movement will captivate you, doesn’t matter the size. I intend to source a 46mm in black after I buy a few other superfluous watches this year. Honestly I never quite got the charm of the Speedy but I have only been collecting watches since before the lunar landing. Haha.
