What do you think of the Antarctic Nivada Gretchen

I've heard varied opinions that this is an ideal new vintage esque watch, with essentially the same dimensions as the original. I've also heard that the brand is essential relaunching itself, and is a hollow shell of it's former self. Other complaints, particularly from hondinkee is that it's overpriced for the specs on offer.

What do you guys think? Do you buy into the heritage and the brand?

the 38mm version is very very nice

Look fantastic and I’m a big fan. But I think I’ll stick to a hand wound 34mm Junghans as my next “vintage” purchase.

Love the look of the 35, but they really missed a trick with those lugs. The angle doesn't allow the outside of the strap to sit flush against the lugs, and it shows the spring bars. Makes the whole thing seem, I dunno - unfinished?

Lovely, 35 too small for me .

I think it's an amazing dial and hits the notes of vintage antartic models to a "t".

Now I can't unseen it! lol

It's very nice and I should care more.

I want to like it, but haven’t jumped over the fence. Pricing does seem high for what you get. I suppose it’s a matter of liking the design enough to jump over…

When I saw this I was so very tempted. I really love the vintage look/size but with all new and modern build. Given how some of the other watches on my "could be next" list go for a lot more than this, it felt "reasonable" (because our brains get broken to start seeing $850 as "less expensive") 😜. So I haven't pulled the trigger yet... but might someday.

Got an Antarctic from the 1960ies.....picked it up on Ebay about 10 years ago for 40 EUR.....I almost never wear it anymore but it is a nice little piece to have in the collection

That's really cool, thanks for sharing the photos, that's such an interesting case shape with the... Hooded lugs

Oh that's quite interesting, thanks for introducing me to it
