So recently after trying on to many watches I can across the top time...
After researching the design history and looking at all the colors and models over the years, it's the first time in this hobby I have ever really understood somome having a collection of just one modle but different generations.
Has anyone ever considered doing this ? Or even just having the same model watch in multiple colors ?
Would love to see some pictures and stories of those who have taken the plunge and went all in on one model

Those watches look great in person. The problem is they depreciate A huge percentage out the door. It's best to pick 1 up in the after market

It just seems like this design has aged really well and money aside is just a really cool watch that comes in many forms , there is a gold vintage and rose gold modern version that's pretty swag, the tourbillon version (which I have tried on in blue and I was blown away) has also been released.
Oh wow , what's the story behind this ?

The one with the white dial is the recreation of original Turtle 6105 8000 from 1968 Already in the 80s, what would be the current Turtle came out (Waffle dial, King Turtle), the orange one was a special limited edition from 2017

So your sticking with the turtle then , do you just buy each generation? Or do you just pickup what you like ?

Well, I have many brands in my collection, but Seiko's Turtle was the one that interested me the most from Seiko. I have bought them more for taste than for generation. In fact, the one called Captain Willard is a Turtle too, only with its crown guard distinctive, it is also a model that came out in 1968 with almost the same reference 6105 8110 and that lasted until the 80s and was reissued until a few years ago.
Love the Top Time, especially the vintage pieces. The 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 810 and 815. Those models are where the magic is!

It definitely has a strong track record
I do that.
In addition to collecting Swiss watches, I also collect vintage Chinese mechanicals. In particular, Sea-Gull and it predecessors from the same Tianjin Watch Factory.
Here is a subset of my "A Chronicle of Tianjin Watch Factory" collection. This subset consists of different brands in the evolution but they are essentially the same model.
From left to right:
- WuXing "Five Stars” (this is a re-issue limited edition, since there were only two Five Stars ever made as prototype watches and they are sitting in some museums)
- Early WuYi "Five One" late 1950s
- Late WuYi "Five One" 1960s
- DongFeng "East Wind" early 1970s
- Sea-Gull late 1970s
- Sea-Gull late 1970s
12,3,6,9 time only Basic design that works on almost any dial case or bracelet. I think this falls in the category.
Yeah, I did it a few years ago too:
For me it's the Cartier Santos, absolutely timeless
The closest I came to collecting the same watch over again:
2 Yema Superman 39mm
Very classic look.
This one is timeless to me, in a modern/futuristic way.

That is a great watch that ages well

This is the fun thing about watch collecting. There are no rules. Whatever tickles your fancy and makes you happy is the goal.

I just never thought I would find the perfect watch design that I love , I'm still a bit shocked to be honest as I am In A position to get a higher price watch for much less...but I want this more

I am glad that you have found what you are passionate about.
I focus on the beauty of them, but merely from the perspectives that I care about. In the beginning I went with the usual critera, such as prestige, or how well the value keeps, or how people might say about what I wear or collect.
Now, I just do my own thing with the new additions.

Fairs , I can respect that , I think someone's collection should represent to themselves a little bit :)
