Welcome!

So I see San Martin have joined us here on watch crunch.

As I had iterated a day or two ago , SM are fast overtaking seiko in some regards.

Now I’m not hating on seiko - I own a good number of their watches & also a grand seiko.

But SM are fast catching up & I think may be a little more dynamic with meeting customer needs / trends & to me , being here on watch crunch sort of proves this.

So , if you like SM post a pic on WRUW.

Ps: no they are not paying me to say this (but can if they want to!🤣)

No one is saying otherwise. That pic is of a homage , a nice one albeit.

I think quality & price point wise they are starting to exceed seiko in some cases.

And have begun to produce original pieces.

Give them a chance Is what I’m trying to say.

Ps: I own seiko stuff , I’m saying what I’m saying objectively & not as a fanboy.

We really should encourage them to continue pushing more into their own designs instead of Homages, they could literally become something legendary if they hit the right nail on the head.

Wholeheartedly agree with that statement!

Personal opinion here - to me they copy other watches and put a Seiko movement in them. They may be ‘spec monsters’ but these homages are to close to just plain fakes that profit from the thousands that another company has invested in design and development.

You really can’t compare Seiko with SM.

Seikos success is based on decades of innovation and original designs.

SMs success is based on copying iconic watches.

That’s fair enough dude , you are entitled to your opinion.

I think they are worth keeping an eye as they are starting to transition into original pieces now.
