Introduction

Hi folks. I've never considered myself a watch collector - the closest I ever came was hoarding old watches as I tended to replace the whole thing rather than getting a new battery back when I was young!

I haven't been regularly wearing a watch for many years. My last daily driver was the Citizen EcoDrive you can see next to an ancient Casio above. My wife brought it for me many many years ago to try and curb my disposal habit :-) I had it serviced a year or so back as it was playing up, and the situation improved but it still does wacky things from time to time. It swaps modes even when the dial indicator doesn't show it, hands just spin and spin for no reason, etc. So I've parked it for now.

I then randomly got into viewing a couple of watch repair channels on YouTube which got me interested in mechanical movements. Now that I'm in my 50's I figured I deserve something half decent. But I guess that doesn't explain the second picture of the black beauty.

I picked up this extremely cheap watch from the local big box store as I liked the aesthetic (even though the additional subdials are for show and don't actually move at all!). And I figured it would give me a chance to see if I would he happy going back to wearing a watch before I invested in anything better.

So now I've taken the plunge and have pre-ordered the new Panzera Flieger 45G. I work for an international company and travel a couple of times a year so I thought the GMT addition would be fun. I know there is a bit of chat around that they are probably overpriced for what you get but with the 50% off retail for the preorder, and reviews of their other products generally being "OK" with the quality, I really liked the look so went for it. Now I just need to wait until May for it to show up!

Thanks for listening. I look forward to seeing what happens around here.

Andy.

That Casio is similiar to AQ-350W, could use a donour module by the sounds. Must be one of the best looking ana-digis out there. Very nice watch you have there indeed. What is the exact model if I may know?

Thanks for paying attention! The case is a little worn on the back, but it definitely says "CASIO 305 AQ-350W". Serial number 33283 if that means anything to anyone.

I was thinking it may be fun to resurrect it as a retro casual watch. Externally it's in great shape despite having sat around for quite possibly over 30 years, but I am a bit worried what the battery may have done to the internals over that time.

I don't seem to have ketp any of the extra links for the strap, but it was on the smallest end of the micro adjustment so a couple of pokes with a toothpick and relocation of the bar and it's even still a good fit!
