Hi crunchers, looking for some expert opinions. I bought what i think is a bit of a grail watch for me, its a 1967 Omega geneve, an absolute stunning time piece. Now i know which wrist to put it on and thats the limit of my expertise ๐.
Heres the question, is it real or have i bought a Mumbai special ? (Bought from Japan)
It seems to run just fine, not a great power reserve, i will be sending it off for a service, but dont want to send it off to get it sent back saying "naw mate, youll need to send this back to a Chinese sweat shop to get it serviced".
So could one of you experts run your eye over it and give me your opinion?
Cheers ๐

Watchmaker and in person would know best. Does the caseback on the inside have any engraving?
Seems similar movement to this one:

Going to a watchmaker today, so ill ask ๐
Impossible to tell from photos but it looks good to me. It's got genuine wear and tear. Problem with any 50+ year old watch is it is likely to have been serviced by independent watchmakers who may or may not have fitted genuine parts. But it's a great looking watch and if you intend to keep it just enjoy it and don't worry too much about it. ๐
I'm hardly an expert, in my opinion it's legit. Crystal may be a replacement as it should have a tiny Omega symbol etched into the plexiglass just above the pinion. But that's no bad thing & to be expected on a watch of this vintage.
It's lovely, I'd certainly be proud to wear it .
Congrats ๐๐ป๐

Yeah was thinking the same, the crystal is a bit too good for its age.
Well thanks for your opinion ๐
And yes iam really enjoying it โค๏ธ
Congratulations, it a lovely watch. All seems to be in order with it. It's definitely not a Mumbai Special.
Style is correct to the era, that dial is awfully clean, my only concern with the watch. Movement looks like Omegas that I collected in the past.
I have a 1960's Seamaster, movement looks good to me.

Cant beat a classic. 60yrs old, still going strong and still looking gorgeous. Wonder how many of today's would look as good after 60yrs. True craftsmanship ๐

Got a new strap from the jewellers. Simply just lifts it and makes it pop.. Been looking at it all day ๐คฃ

Hi Billy, so what was the verdict from the watchmaker?

Yeah its all good, said its probably had a new glass at some point, unsure if its had a replacement dial as the condition of it is very good. Said its genuine, movement is in good condition for its age, recommended a service at some point. Said if i wanted to "trade it in" to give him first refusal ๐คฃ.
So im very happy...think its a stunning piece,, always catching myself looking at it, without checking the time ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Thatโs fantastic news. Enjoy ๐ฅณ
