Miyota 9075 roundup

Hello all,

As someone partial to "flyer" GMTs, the Miyota 9075 has been one of the most exciting developments in the past several years. (Perhaps more significantly: It could pave the way for a "GMT-ified" LaJoux-Perret G100 [itself a variant of the Miyota 9015]).

I've been keeping a list of released and announced models using the 9075 - here it is, in case someone else finds it useful. (Also - I've almost certainly missed out an entry or three, so I'd appreciate any updates or corrections.)

Yes - Lorier put up an Instagram post about the switch: https://www.instagram.com/p/CoagsI-Jdxd/

The 9075 has been wonderful in disproving some of the more ridiculous claims by other brands that the jumping local hour GMT movement is especially difficult to manufacture. Makes it harder for them to justify high prices on the basis of that feature. The reality is that this type of movement just uses a few more wheels in the motion works, not exactly rocket science.

The "Flyer" description also seems pretty dubious marketing to me as plenty of flyers have used the so-called caller/desk GMT movement type just fine, like this pilot/astronaut. Just requires a bit more mental effort.

I'm sure it will be good. I have a few Miyota 90xx moments in my collection and I've had nothing but great service from them.

There's a titanium one currently available on pre-order that uses the 9075 - I'll correct the list to reflect that https://magrette.com/shop/moana-pacific-waterman-gmt-limited-pre-order

I suppose "flyer" involves a whiff of marketing spin, but "independently adjustable 12h hand" just doesn't roll off the tongue the same way...

Agree on the 9075's existence undermining some of the excuses that vendors are giving for not offering this functionality. An LJP G100 GMT would also remove that last "but it's not Swiss" excuse as well.

I gotta say -- so far, this movement's a real winner in my book. I'm very pleased with my Mako GMT -- and the price was insanely fair.

Dear Alvin ,what a great research you did regarding the 9075mvt. Happy to see your enthusiasm regarding this movement.

For me it was over 10 years I asked meyota when they will issue a GMT movement and the same year two years ago I had a call with Miyota and Seiko within a few weeks from each other.

They both came to me telling me that something is Happening before they announced the new GMT movement both would make

Seiko was their first and a few months after miota asked me to see if I wanted to be in the list of the very few brand who could use this movement first

I had already a watch in mind and an idea in mind but I had to finalize the whole design and it took me around six months to make sure the design was correct with the new specs of the movement

On the other hand I told Seiko I will also buy these movements for a GMT version of my Avidiver.

Having had good contact with Miyota Hollandse viziers and very happy to say that the Longitude what I was looking for with this movement
