As regards"babying" we all know that first scratch bleeds real bad,but after when the scab falls off it's just a scar we can say gives character to the boy the watch becomes!. JMTCW.😉

My Longines Classique dress watch (1998) gold-plated with the old PVD coating still looks pristine and as new.

My attitude and reaction to this watch has been entirely vindicated by your post Ibrahim!.I couldn't have put it more succinctly myself !.😜

Picked up my 124270 two days ago. Two things i found disappointing. The Cromalite(sp?) lume as you say is very weak on mine as well, especially as I read somewhere that it is brilliant!.Perhaps there's a secret method to increasing the strength but you shouldn't need to,(bah humbug!).The other gripe is a bit nitpicky I suppose but since the indices and hands have been made of 18k white gold, why scrimp on the coronet (printed) on the dial?. Even my humble Date (15200) has the applied gold one!.

I am waiting to get the call from my AD to pick up the Rolex Explorer (ref 124270) in about three weeks. I put my name down for it only a few months ago an was understandably stunned to hear from them so quickly,But you have to realise I live in New Zealand Pop about 6 million and that undoubtedly had something to do with it.I am an "older newbie to both computors and forums like this so please be patient until I figure out how to post "wrist-shots" etc!!!. I have watched(no pun intended) numerous vids on the tube about this particular Rolex and fell for it very hard.I can hear the sighs of agreement all the way over here! I own a humble "Date" (ref 15200)anyway but I will keep it for sentimental reasons.i also have Seiko,Longines and Mondaine (picked up from a charity store for five bucks!).The battery cost more than the watch. The Mondaine, I mean.It has a little hatch in the back plate for the battery...very strange!. BTW thanks for all the kind welcomes from you. Bye for now,Bob.
