I got my first watch when I was about Twelve. A Huge old american Ingersoll gold plated monstrosity!. But just listening to the magical ticking at night in the dark ignited my love for these mechanical master-pieces!. I have progressed somewhat since then At present I am wearing my trusty Rolex Date 15200 I bought in 2007 at an auction site here in NZ for about half the RRP ( nz$3.500), which still had the protective stuff on it. D reg papers, box and all. Lusting afteran Omega Aqua-Terra at the moment but hard to get here in NZ. Also have Mondaine,Longines and Seiko among others.

Thanks ticky.I'm ANOTHER (sigh) Rolex fan.Just arranged a purchase from my AD. The explorer ref 124270 36mm. I was very surprised to get the call after only a few months.Fell hard for that inky black dial.😮. I will post some pix when I get it next month. Can hardly wait. Cheers Bob.
Hi Tommy, Longines are so under-rated but are one of the oldest branded watches there are apparently. Mine is only a Quartz (Classique) but is a superb dress watch. As i said in my intro I was lusting after the Omega but then got the Rolex after having almost given up!Swings and roundabouts eh?. I will post pix when I learn how....I;m an oldie.

I am waiting to get the call from my AD to pick up the Rolex Explorer (ref 124270) in about three weeks. I put my name down for it only a few months ago an was understandably stunned to hear from them so quickly,But you have to realise I live in New Zealand Pop about 6 million and that undoubtedly had something to do with it.I am an "older newbie to both computors and forums like this so please be patient until I figure out how to post "wrist-shots" etc!!!. I have watched(no pun intended) numerous vids on the tube about this particular Rolex and fell for it very hard.I can hear the sighs of agreement all the way over here! I own a humble "Date" (ref 15200)anyway but I will keep it for sentimental reasons.i also have Seiko,Longines and Mondaine (picked up from a charity store for five bucks!).The battery cost more than the watch. The Mondaine, I mean.It has a little hatch in the back plate for the battery...very strange!. BTW thanks for all the kind welcomes from you. Bye for now,Bob.
Welcome
Bob!
