1980 Seiko Type II Quartz - like Tissot PRX

Super excited with my new (old) Seiko! I told myself I'll never buy another quartz watch, but this humble little retro nugget from the quartz crisis era called out to me. The case silhouette reminds me of the Tissot PRX, and the dark blue dial with Roman indices looks sporty but classic. Can't wait to experiment with new strap combinations for this little gem!

I'm a sucker for 70s/80s seikos and have often looked at the type IIs. I have to say, I do struggle getting straps that suit my blue dial watches, so I'd be interested to know what you go for. For me, either sandy colours or dark blue work the best.

Cracking watch 👌

They are the best. So charming and wearable. This is my 1985 I’ve owned since day one.

Seiko Type II is definitely an underrated series. For the straps I'm gonna try dark blue, black, maybe brown. Blue dial + black leather ought to be class. ✨

Very cool line of watches. Tickles me more than similarly designed Oysterquartzes...

Type IIs are really nice. They tend to the have more interesting dials than the more expensive Grand and King Quartz models, and the early ones had very similar movements to those more expensive model lines. I prefer the more complex case designs of the Grand and Kings, but you aren't giving up much with a Type II.
