Does your Collection/Journey have a theme?

Ive noticed that even though my watches are all vastly different, there is an overarching theme

Tl;dr

The theme of my collection is to have the most diverse set of 24h watches, ive got:

  • Smart

  • Classic quartz

  • Mechanical diver

  • Electronic

  • Field watch

Does your collection have a theme, and what is it?

My journey

Preface:

So as most folks of my generation, I didnt wear watches, and used phone to check time, so my watch Journey is likely different

So, here we go:

Image

Amazfit Bip (1st gen)

At one point, there was a boom for smart watches, and ive decided to jump on bandwagon and got amazfit bip, as it outclassed any other option in terms of:

  • Smart watch with always on display

  • Great readability in sunlight (reflective display)

  • insane battery life (30 days straight)

Orient Basic Quartz RA-SP0006E10B

Then later ive decided to get some "real" watch that doesnt look like a toy, so ive gone for Orient contemporary/casual collection for factors:

  • Its a classic quartz watch

  • Saphire glass

  • Green dial - a replacement for a green beads bracelet ive used to wear as a reminder of some personal event

  • The bracelet was a mesh, that was becoming very popular on other smart watches like Apple etc

  • so i decided to try both a real watch and a new popular type of bracelet

Vostok K35084A - customized

After a while, ive noticed that i really miss 24h function in a watch, and was looking through all possible analog 24h watches, including 1 handers, in the end ive found that russians are doing some really cool watches for cheap and cool designs and functions, this as resuled in me getting k35 Pepsi white:

  • True 24h dial with noon on top (logical)

  • Dive watch

  • Mechanical, self wind

  • Water and shock resistent

  • Unique design

  • Modability - got minutes bezzel and mesh bracelet

Casio 700w

This is where Collecting really took off, ive notes i got different types of watches smart, quartz, mechanical and getting an electronic one was pretty obvious decision. And there is no more quintessential electronic watch that casio, and since ive grown to like mesh bracelets, it narrowed my options to this piece, so the factors were:

  • 24h dial

  • Legendary electronic watch

  • Universal for any style

  • Mesh bracelet

Image

TPW Classic field watch

So after acquiring classic casio, and figuring out that the theme of my collection is different types of 24h watches, I needed a piece to complete it, and there was only one type of watch that was 24h that ive missed, a field watch. After searching for a good option, ive concluded that this one checks all the boxes

  • 12/24h, minutes marks

  • Its on a strap

  • Field watch should be quartz and cheap by definition, this one is

And this is it, my collection is now complete!

After ive figure out what was the theme for my collection, finding the missing pieces was trial.

So, does your collection have a theme, and what is it?

Journey schmourney-I buy what I like.

The theme is chaos.

·

Yes, & that theme is "Can I afford it?"

·

I think I have two themes: Unique and/or vintage-looking. My husband says it’s eclectic though, so maybe my themes are just in my head and not reality. LOL

·

Sort of. I don’t care for divers and I find I generally prefer what others would call “eclectic” or “eccentric”. My Rado DiaStar and 1962 JLC Asymmetric watches are good examples.

Chaos with some way to tell the time here. 😉

I mostly like pilot's watches. I have a field watch style one as well but recently I've been finding it too small and the dial a bit boring.

Plus the g shock which is a perfect beater.

Great collection by the way. I also started with an Amazfit (neo).

·

For now my theme is variety of dial colors/designs. Trying to make it possible to match my watch with what I wear.

·

Mine does have a theme but not because I intended it, but because it just went its way into a themed collection

·

Not at the moment, but in the process of refining to just Omegas & Seikos

·

My two main watches are dark grey with rose gold. So if two watches are enough that is my theme. Why that theme? It matches my wedding ring, which is Platin and Rosegold.

I have a few more watches, but they are more weekend watches or beaters.

Yes. Gold. 😅
