I decided to post this after reading a recent post about removing the cyclops from a seiko samurai by @JapanExclusive
So while Max's video on removing a cyclops from a Seiko turtle was Fire! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wW6OhNgfLc
I was picking up a watch my watchmaker had cleaned and repaired. And I was wearing my Seiko SRPE37K1 King Samurai and expressed my dislike of the cyclops on that particular watch. He asked if I had 15 minutes or so and viola! No flame or heat and No cyclops!
So he removed the crystal from the watch to remove it. basically used a specialized jig to hold the crystal and used a Jewlers hammer and a single edge razor blade. He said it's a little trick he learned while at Rolex. He was very proficient at it, you could tell he had done it many times. It was like watching a sommelier doing a Sabrage with a Saber/Sword to open a bottle of champagne. Well maybe a diamond cutter. Bad visual with the champagne in comparison to watch parts. Or in this case a Samurai practicing the art of Kenjutsu
Has anyone else done or heard of this? I seems everyone else is just using heat and solvent

That is awesome. And he did it with just a single stroke, you say? That's a man of focus, commitment and sheer will. Just stay away from his dogs. 😛🍻
He did have to wipe it down with a solvent to remove a little residue from the glue used…. Anyone need a Cyclops!
