What is the opinion of Sekonda? I know “lesser” and “fashion” watch brands get a bad press on some forums etc.
I personally am of the thought that as long as you like a watch and it makes you happy crack on.
What are peoples thoughts on brands like Sekonda who make what I feel are decent watches in the main for a reasonable price?

Good watches for the price, they won't work miracles but they're cheap, attractive, and are a brand with quite a lot of history actually, I plan to get one of their vintage made in USSR watches in the near future.

I read about this, was quite interesting.
buy the pretty one that ticks and your taste in watches will evolve.
This is one of my favourites, unique handset, very comfortable to wear. The same 3017 movement as the Strela, this version into space on Soyuz.
And I quite fancy this for the Mrs, there's a nice red version and also green I think.
I have a Sekonda Heritage that is like the one in your photo. Great looking watch and IMHO a great budget brand. Loads of bargains on the web and good designs.
I've got eight vintage Sekonda's including two which your watch is based on. They are all excellent time keepers, work well and look good too. I really rate all Russian and Eastern European vintage watches.
Enjoy your new watch and enjoy the heritage too.
Cheers!
Some years ago, before I understood anything about watches, I bought this Sekonda while traveling with my now-wife. It became my daily driver for a couple of years.
Last year I was bitten by the watch bug (yeah, the same one that got us all)... and only then learned that this Sekonda is actually a Navitimer Homage. I will keep mine, as I like how it looks on this new strap and it has emotional value to me.
I don't know Sekonda's portfolio that well, but my feeling is that they are a fashion watch brand, with the focus on fair-looking yet cheap-build stuff.
We all collect for whatever reason motivates each of us personally. I bought a Lorus tank just last week for £18. Great watch that I hope to get a lot of wear and enjoyment from. I also have a Sekonda in my collection that I will never dispose of. I keep all of the watches that I was wearing when something monumentous happened in my life. We should all enjoy whatever watches make us happy
I have the gold color of the model you show. I was so surprised by the look after it arrived. It has a tiger eye type dial that I just love.
Although now primarily a fashion brand, they do make very nice pieces. The current range is all quartz. The back of mine says British design, Japanese movement, assembled in China. They have a long history though, and their earlier watches can be picked up very reasonably. Of the current range, I really like the Airborne Chronograph.
