3-Watch Challenge: 'Field Command'

Well here it is! My second 3-watch collection is complete! I dub it, 'Field Command'. The idea was that within the theme of field watches, I'd end up with 3 watches that could cater to most situations. Obviously that means there will be strap changes as well, as you can't really wear a NATO with a suit ๐Ÿ˜‚

1) The Daily Driver - Vostok Komandirskie 216289

Versatile, sturdy, and with its sunburst blue dial it isn't out of place in most situations. Being a hand wound mechanical, it's also thin, so slips nicely under the cuff of a shirt. The lack of a proper diving bezel also means it's not ostentatious, and further cements its position as an everyday watch. (This will be getting a nice blue, leather strap for wearing to the office).

2) The Beater - Boderry Voyager 'Vintage Noir'

Incredibly durable (titanium), all the good field watch specs, incl. 100m WR, makes this the obvious companion for tramping through the woods, wrestling with the toddler or dog, and generally all other physical activities.

3) The Vintage/Dress Option - Militado D12 Homage

Much more compact at 36mm, this wee beauty also has some vintage vibes. Being an homage to the Dirty Dozen watches, it's a great option for a 'dressier' occasion, especially when popped onto a nice leather strap! I especially love the gilt on the hands, particularly when the sun hits it just right!

TOTAL COST: 245.86USD

Next up will be a more 'substantial' collection, and will take more time to save up for and purchase! (Means more time to enjoy the ones I have now!)

Hope you all enjoy! Let me know if you agree/disagree with my choices, love to hear everyone's thoughts! (I'm still sticking with these 3 simply because I love them, but yes of course it's fun to hear what you all think! ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Great selection(and affordable too) love the vostok (need one of those plexi beauties in the collection) been nearly pulling the trigger on one of them boderry's for a while(funky case shape) and the militardo a lot of watch for the money (n great looking too) trying so so hard not to go down this particular rabbit hole, so I'm glad you've done it for me. You're very welcome! I'm in the same boat, this is my last visit for a while to this particular aspect of watches. My next 3 watch collection I'm planning will take a lot longer, and be more 'substantial' watches (in terms of cost, quality, heritage, etc). Stay tuned!! ๐Ÿ˜‚

If you want a one brand 3 watch collection of that, Baltany has all of those in their lineup ๐Ÿ˜

Not sure why but on the whole with a few exceptions just can't get into the field watch genre. Maybe that will but for now the only ones that really have my attention in the category are the Hamilton Murph and the Circula ProTrail with the sand dial ( it seems like it is just a yellow though.) โญโญโญโญโญ

How is the Mitaldo? I Was planning on buying it.

I was going to do that!!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Literally was putting Baltany watches in the shopping cart, but then right at the end I thought I wanted diversity of brand. While I'm still enjoying the 'affordable' level of watches, I want to experience as many of the brands as possible to compare things. So I went this way instead!

Yes, yes and yes! Real nice, super cool watches and affordable. I like the way you think!

With a couple of straps I could turn that Militado into a one watch collection. Bloody lovely.

Fair enough! Good thing the watch world had what seems like an almost endless parade of types, styles, design, and spec combinations! There will be something for everyone! ๐Ÿค

I like it! There's a golden glint off the sword hands, it's a clean dial, and with the smaller size and polished bezel, it can double nicely in dressier situations. It is also a quartz movement, so set and forget. It's been a few days now and it's approx. 1 second off... If anything at all!

I did notice a miniscule amount of slack in the minute hand. When I tilt the watch on a particular axis, there is a tiny amount of back play. I've since learned that's normal for a quartz watch, as there isn't the constant torque from a mainspring being applied to it. The amount of movement is tiny, no more than approx 1/3 of the space between the minute markers.

Thanks mate! Now for enjoying rotating between the three for a couple weeks to wear them in! ๐Ÿ˜

Yep absolutely! A nice leather, a couple different coloured NATOs, maybe a few different material ones, a rubber one or two. Absolutely see what you mean!

Beautiful set. That Boderry standss out to me, those extra long lugs, very sexy.

Thatโ€™s interesting. I have the Baltany that looks identical to this (so much so I thought it must be the same watch initially) and it also has a small amount of back play in the minute hand. It annoys me and I canโ€™t say any of my other quartz watches do this. I wonder if itโ€™s to do with the quality of the quartz movement? Small flaw in an otherwise perfect watch though.

There's a really interesting, 'twisted' shape and finish to them. Even more pronounced in the bronze versions, looks really cool!
