(Saturday Discussion) Kicks and Watch
Happy weekend fellow watch enthusiast. I believe that watch are a part of fashion aesthetic. i myself believe if im gonna buy a watch it should be match with our outfit. In my case i always buy a watch to pair with my shoes and belt. i give you my example:
- my black doc martens 2976 chelsea boots paired with black belt and my seiko srpg37
- my brown porteegoods derby shoes (indonesian local brand) paired with my brown belt and my brown strap orient bambino (datejust is not mine 😂)
- my brown doc martens 1460 boots paired with my brown belt and my laco aachen
(strap always have the same colour as the shoes, it become distorted because of the lighting when taking the photo) i considered myself a minimalist so i dont buy more kicks and more watch. i plan to wearing it for a long time. So what do you think? Did you do what i did? or did you dont care? and prefer your watch to be stand out from the rest of your outfit? Let share some tought here. Cheers

I like the pictures, I totally get it. What watch I want to wear tends to dictate what shoes/boots, shirt, pants, ... etc. I wear out. Sadly the concept of going out almost seems like a distant memory. However, that's about to change next weekend.

I’m glad I am not the only one who thinks about this! I feel like I struggle to put leather straps on my watches for this very reason, don’t want to clash with the leather in my shoes or belt!

Partially because with Covid Travel has become a bit of a pain and resulted in remote work policies being adopted so I no longer even go to an office (not complaining about that by the way don't really miss the office at all). Partially because I live in the Canadian Prairies and this winter has been brutally cold so leaving the house is not appealing and when I do I don't care about fashion I care more about not freezing to death outside lol.
It's been a long somewhat depressing 4-5 months. Usually we run away to Hawaii for 2 weeks this time of year but cancelled it for the 2nd year in a row due to potential Covid Travel challenges making it a bit risky. Think I may need to move lol.

At the risk of sounding flippant, I tend not to care. Then again, I also tend to not try and be “fashionable”, so that probably makes me timeless.
I’ll wear a suit if I’m going to court or a funeral, and I try to avoid both.
I collect shoes as well as watches. I always tend to pair up colours with watches.
i usually don't care about matching it. as long as it is a sports steel it can go well with everything. but for dress watches with leather straps perhaps more thought would have to go into it.

glad to know someone feels the same. my suggestion is you buy a few set. shoes a go with belt a and watch a. shoes b go with belt b and watch b, etc 👍👍
Quick funny story. While an event in the Republic of Korea I attended an official dinner and there one of the ladies said that it was nice I chose a blue dial watch to match my blue shirt. As a matter of fact, I told her, I bought the blue shirt there in Seoul to match it with the blue Seiko SBDC053 :D
