Your Squale Quality-Experiences are needed.

I'm currently in Switzerland and had a happy coincidend with a watch maker/store and saw for the first time live Squale watches.

I need a diver-gmt and the Squale looked perfect for less than 900 CHF.

I went in and tryed it on.

It sits great on my wrist and looks well manufactured. But...

...first I unsrewed the crown and when trying to wind it up there were a unusual sound. Like a hard friction inside. I asked the watch maker if this is normal, but he said everything were ok. Mmhh...ok...let's see.

When I tryed to rotate the bezel....nothing...

It wasn't possible. Hard as rock.

The watchmaker took it hold it tight in his both hands as like if he was trying to open a coconut with his bare hands. He rotated it, while moaning and sweating and five times changing his aching hand position.

He again said "everything normal".

Mmhh...not in my universe.

I asked for another one to compare the bezels. He brought me a pepsi bezel one.

Now the bezel rorated smooth.

BUT....

The clasp...it was very difficult to close, like if the parts doesn't fit into each other, and the clasp felt quite cheap.

Thankfully my little child started crying (I actually felt the same way) and I used it as excuse to left the shop to escape this awkward moment.

Now my question to you fam:

Was it just very unlucky that he had bad manufactured models?

Or are these comon problems with squale gmt watches?

How was your experience with the quality so far?

P.s. I had to add that also the quality of the Squale website is a pain in the a.... It's so freaking slow. You literally regret to click on another link or picture while sitting there for minutes and waiting to load. Or does Squale think this is a part of nostalgia to offer websites on late 1990's standards? It's really not a good start between me and squale. And I also have to question all the youtubers/influencers who are trying to convice me of Squale.

I bought a Squale before, returned it. The clasp was very hard to open and close. Almost unusable.

Thanks. Yes...same as my experience today. 🤕

I also bought and and returned it to buy a Sinn. Had the same problem with the clasp. The bezel was ok to turn but had a lot of play and was not well aligned.

I’ve owned two squales including my current “Batman”. Yes, the bezels do tend to be stiff. However I’ve never had a problem with anything else.

Thanks for that input. Yea...it seems tze clasp is kind of a weak point of squale.

But also leading my mind to a conclusion, that their general quality control might be low which led to the almost unmoveable bezel.

Btw. Good choise with Sinn. Unfortunately I love blingy watches. Otherwise I would propably own only Sinn watches.

But I have an eye on the 903 as soon they relaunch it.

I currently have 4 Squale watches and I can confirm the problem with the clasp on one watch, but it will get better over time. The fourth Squale arrived last week and didn't work, no chance of getting it to work, I sent it back to the seller and he will complain to Squale.

No Problems with the bezel.

I’ve definitely had my issues. At one point, it was very difficult to get 24 hour hand to advance properly. I sent it back under warranty and the repair is impeccable. It’s now become one of my favorite watches of all time. Prior to the repair I really wanted to sell the watch. Now I might just get buried with it.
