Rolex?

Am l the only one that has no aspirations to own a Rolex? I really don't want one.

I think the Air King is cool and I wouldn't mind if one fell in my lap, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy one even if I could afford it.

·

No I'm happy enough with seiko and grand seiko, used too want one, think after few more GS I'm going to explore micro brands probably few vintage, only thing that draws me to rolex is the jubilee and president bracelets and I can buy them and put them on any watch 👍

·

You and me both.

I don't mind the Explorer and OP, but not nearly enough to actually buy one.

·

I have no problems with Rolex's watches or even their sales models.

I just have no desire for one.

·

I don't want a Rolex either. I also don't want a Lamborghini Countach, a Zip 22 pistol, a decomissioned oil rig or the Köln cathedral. No interest whatsoever!

·

I think its kind of cycle

At first you want one

Then you reveals that other brands giving more value for money

At the end after you owned a lot of "almost rolex" you end buying a rolex

Right now i am at the same thoughts as you

You're not the only one. Thankfully there are hundreds of thousands of watches to pick from instead of being Submariner guy #36907041.

…said the man before buying a Dayejust 41mm…😊 Beside of jokes, it’s absolutely fair enough. I had the same mentality and was able to stick to it for 5 years….and then an Explorer I 40mm happened…and my grail is the Batgirl/Batman…never say never but great either ways!

I have owned many different Rolex watches in the past, collected a mind numbing, personal finance wrecking number of vintage before I abandoned a foolish pursuit that was beyond my realistic reach. Until a forced time out rehabbing a freak broken ankle followed by covid lockdowns, I was ignorant of social media and videos on YouTube, had no idea that Rolex had become so much in demand. I had always intended to transition back to a Rolex because after all they are a very capable timepiece but I believe they are not exactly what so many non enthusiast customers feel they are. I have very few good habits but I do hold independent opinions about many everyday events,it should not be so challenging to purchase a mass produced object that is designed for mass consumption.

·

I don’t want one either and I think there are a lot of people out there who prefer other watches. For me it’s not the value, in that regard I think they are really good, I just can’t fall in love with the design and that I see Rolex watches everywhere. But Tudor and omega fall in the same pitfall to me personally.

·

I've never been a massive fan. They make wonderful watches but just not really my style apart from a couple of models.

·

No aspirations as such, no…but who knows? From their current offering, I do like the 1908:

More likely however it’d be a vintage Oyster, such as the 50s Royal:

But not on the radar at all atm 🙃

Years and years ago when I knew nothing about watches it was pretty aspirational and I'd have loved one. Now I've become 'educated' I know there are other options (better or worse) available and I absolutely detest the 'game' you have to play to get hold of one. It would have been a 'yes please' for 23 year old me, but it's a ' no thanks' from 53 year old me.

·

Don't mind the Explorer 1 or 1908, but hate the Sub and all the others that look like it with a passion. Not just the watches, but the brand image.

Honestly, wouldn't accept one as a gift.

Only watches I dislike more is the whole "tribute act", the Bland Bay range. 😱🤣👍🏻

This is the right attitude. I also refuse to feed into this monster that's led to dealers requiring you to buy "stepping stone" watches before they'll sell you the one you actually want.
