Holthinrichs

After 3 years of knowing Michiel Holthinrichs, I’m finally making a custom watch with him! We chose a German silver dial to start. Hand hammering is at the center. Hand engraved numerals, replacing the original concept of applied Breguets, will come next. In about four months, I should be taking deliver from Michiel when we meet for dinner in Manhattan.

Instead of the train track surrounding the small seconds, we’ll be engraving points to repeat the minutes track surrounding the hours track.

Not really my style, but very cool. Can't wait to see the finished watch.

It looks like you’ve got a taste for sportier watches. We’ll be pairing the dial with the Ornament 1 case from Holthinrichs.

Thanks. It definitely took some time and work to arrive at all of the finishes.

Pics of the engraved Breguets on the German silver dial should arrive this month. At that point we’ll decide if we’re going to lacquer fill or not.

Interesting look..What is the size, and what is the movement being used?

I am usually against small seconds, but the recessed subdial atones for this greatly. The branding is surprisingly tasteful and inobtrusive. This looks to be visual interest done correctly.

Michiel started his career as an architect and was very disciplined in developing an architype in the Ornament series.

That's lovely. Side note: Does it seem like Baltic found inspiration here for their MR-01?

I think most can trace their inspirations back to Breguet, Cartier and Patek.
