Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

I received my first watch off my great Uncle Jack . Not working just something to feel like a grown up as a 7 or 8 year old . That watch was eventually serviced and worn til it disappeared to the planet of the pens at some point I cannot recall now . Waltham dress watch around 34mm with a plated case and stretch metal band 17 Jewels incabloc movement.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

Waltham dress watch from the 60s

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

I can’t recall much other than he knew I liked watches and had gotten a new watch . No idea what that watch was .

Don’t fall down the rabbit hole ,descend slowly in a controlled way :) Look at many before you buy . The hunt and acquisition of knowledge is the best part of the hobby. Impulse purchases will nearly always be a bit meh 😒 after a while. You can get lucky 🍀 , I first got a 70s Willard new in 1978 or 79 and years later purchased a new Blue one . I gave the original away to my younger brother years ago . He has no idea what happened to it :)

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Tudor, Lorier, Monta and Cartier! Rolex Vacheron and Patek are a given . Tim Mosso from “Watchbox” has my attention about FPJourne , Bethune , Moser and many more …. He is the smartest guy I’ve come across in the High end watch collecting world and is a constant font of great information…

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

ALS Odysseus is what I would consider my grail . Unobtainable, and beyond my budget though , the first watch I would consider my closest watch to a perfect watch in all ways to me . My aspirational watch “ one within my means is a simple 37mm Tudor BB54 . I like clean and simple ….
