I started last month. Best advice I've heard is get something new and simple to start. A ST36 movement is $35. If you can service and get the same amplitude or better than when you started, its a success.
First of all, get some defective movements or other mechanisms with small screws just to test the screwdrivers tips. If they are not good quality, the tip shatters when undoing a stubborn screw and spreads tiny metal bits into the movement. You definitely don't want that. I learned it the hard way, so be careful.

Off camera I have a moment holder and some gloves but yeah a timegrapher would be a good next purchase.
Looks as if we purchased almost exactly the same stuff. I played with some <$20 eBay vintage stuff. I spent more on tools than watches! 😅
Will you use the cannon pinion remover to remove hands? (I did opposite. Bought hand removal levers and used those to lift cannon pinion.)

Lol that tends to happen.
Buy those Seagull ST3600 movements to practice on!

I may get brave enough to try one of my Vostoks. Also have an AliExpress Tandorio with NH35 when I feel really ready.
Good luck!

Thanks!
I wish that I had the proper vision and steadiness of hand to do that - congratulations, and best of luck.
I want to start also. Do you have a list of what you have and where you got it ?

Yeah I couldn’t end up getting it out of the case and it pissed me off a bit so I started working on something else.
