Vintage Seiko (90s)

I'm gutted my vintage #Seiko has croaked it (quartz battery has died) I hope I can find a jewellers that can change it - a bit nervous as I got this watch second hand, so I have no history of warranty papers. I have my fingers crossed I can get it fixed, because it's such a lovely watch to wear.

Easy and anyone that calls themselves a watch maker should be able to handle this.  Just go ahead and do it asap, dead batteries can leak and that would probably kill this thing for good.

Assuming it is just a battery then it's a very simple fix for a competent watchmaker. I'm sure you'll have no trouble. I'd do it for you if you had trouble finding one but of course, I have no knowledge of the geography/logistical challenge. Offer is there if you need it

Don't take it to the mall kiosk though. Good chance they will kill it trying to change the battery.

My inner monologue while reading the title of this post: “90s vintage?  Where does this guy get off saying something from the 90s is vintage? Its not that long ago! It’s only… wait, what 30 years???” *record scratch noise* 🤯

You might want to open up the caseback and remove the dead battery while looking for a replacement, just in case the old one starts leaking.

Lovely piece in mint condition. In case the movement would break some point in time don't throw it away. You should be able to find a donor watch with the same movement for cheap (the first part of the reference number is the movement type) and get a watchmaker to exchange them.
