The Odd Islander.

I received the watch last night. First, it was packaged very well. It arrived with the crown unscrewed as I expected it would. I then easily screwed it down. Weird…
So I unscrewed it and screwed it again, and again. A dozen times. One thing I did notice is there’s a bit of slop in the time set position. It there’s no resistance at first and between 1/4-1/2 tun of the crown before it engages the hands.
I sized it for myself and decided to wear it today so I could fiddle with. A few times now there is a feel of binding when putting the crown back, as if the stem is just too long. A little finessing, rotating and slightly pushing it frees up. Slides in and all is well.
It’s very intermittent though which makes me think it might need some lubrication. It’s enough I’d be pretty upset at $400. Otherwise it’s awesome.

I like seeing Marc's releases but admittedly none have struck a chord with me personally. I suppose it's because there is so much competition in that price range that I enevitably come across a different watch that serves a similar purpose. It's a nice looking watch though!

I’d have never picked it out for myself. On wrist though I’m really liking it. Enough that I’m considering selling something out my collection to keep this.

Maybe a postal worker kicked it around the warehouse and knocked something into place
I bought that watch as a fun, occasional summer watch, then wore it all the time. KEEP IT
I almost bought one of these Islanders recently. The dials are absolutely gorgeous on these watches.
I can’t get behind them. Always taking Seiko designs.
