Hello Community - 1st post

Hello WatchCrunch Community! ๐Ÿ˜€

My name is Dan and I'm in the mid 30s and happy to be part of this community - sharing the same passion to watches.

I'm starting with the one watch I'm wearing now for 5 years already (yes, it was my 30th birthday present).

Oris Aquis Date Ref. 01 733 7732 4134-07 8 21 05PEB

How I came to watches?

My brother in law has a really great watch collection (several Rolex, Omega Speedmaster, Cartier Tank, Oris Aquis, and more) and took me to the world of watches. But the main reason is that within the last 5 years wearing my Oris Aquis Date almost every day I really understood what it means to have a 39.5mm high-quality partner on my wrist that never let me down.

I want to make a separate review post on my own experience with the Oris Aquis.

On my researches I also become very interested in the fantastic world of Seiko (if you wondered about the image on my profile).

What's next?

I really felt in love with the Cartier brand and I'm very much interested to buy a Santos or a Santos-Dumont. Has anyone been before this decision?

Cheers

Dan

Welcome to the site, that Aquis is very nice and the Cartier is definitely a cool next step. Be sure to try them on, I was in Cartier a while back thinking I wanted a Tank Must, but after trying a few different ones on I found the Francais fit my wrist much better. I didn't try the Santos on, but I definitely think it's a great watch, and will def. try one on next time I'm in.

Thank you @MikeShaw! I tried both, but decisions (beside price gap) becomes not easier. I will definitely have a look to Francais. ๐Ÿ˜€

Great starters watch! I get why you like Cartier, very decent watches which are also very easy to style! Good luck with getting one some day โ˜บ๏ธ

While I am bubbling with unsolicited advice about the hobby, one thing I will let slip is that some newcomers to the hobby seem to be averse to used watches. In my own experience, and I am sure many will corroborate it, used watches, especially luxury ones, represent fantastic opportunity. Most people selling used watches are enthusiasts that took good care of their possessions and want them to go into good hands and keep bringing joy. If you have not looked at chrono24 or other used watches retailers, you absolutely should. Omega and Cartier secondary market is worth a strong look for the value

Thank you, @irontsuba! My first luxury watch was from grey market retailer, even it was new. Itโ€™s a fantastic space to look also for vintage and forgotten collectibles.

I am happy to see not everyone entering the hobby falls for the hype and marketing ๐Ÿ˜‰

Welcome. As your 1st post, you are definitely coming in hot. To me this is the perfect diver. The size, the go with anything color and a 6 oโ€™clock date window. 5 years is a good testament of the amazing quality of this brand. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ As I click on the Oris website ๐Ÿค—

Welcome. Great watch to start posting. Watch out for your wallet. Reading the posts here will be like Ozempic for it.
