Seiko SPB147

If you are like me a few days ago thinking if you should buy this 62mas reissue series then think no more. The size and proportions I personally feel is spot on. Seiko really knows how to do their dials. Colorways are subjective but this one hits the spot for me. I will no longer look at the BB58. This one fills that gap.

Thank you to this watch crunch group for supporting me these past few days during my dilemma whether to get this. I’m glad I did! ✌🏻You guys are true enthusiasts. I’m so happy to find a group that supports any watch brands. This is refreshing.

Looks great! The SPB143 is still one of my favorites in my collection.

Great to hear that. I truly believe this one will be in my favourite list for a long time as well. The size fits me very nicely. Now I’m just waiting on the Uncle jubilee and I should be good to go although the strap that came with it is not too shabby. Way better than the rubber straps that came with my mini turtle. Less of a dust magnet but still not quite a Strapcode or Crafter Blue material.

How’s the bezel action? Mine is a little stiff. Curious if it’s something common to multiple pieces or just mine.

Interesting you mentioned that. I actually find mine a bit looser than expected. I would say it’s looser than my mini turtle. I don’t have a preference on that but I’m very grateful this one has a perfectly aligned bezel! 🤣

The bezel action on my SPB239 was a little stiff at the beginning but became a little loose after a bit of use. Since then I haven't felt any difference in the action.

I’ve really grown to love Seiko. Unlike a lot of folks, they were not one of my first loves when it comes to watch brands.

I agree. I was the same way. I was first exposed to the typical Swiss brands at first. However, Seiko has up on their craftsmanship since my very first mini turtle that I purchased back in 2016/2017. Especially these mid tier Seiko’s with the 6R movements the watches feel more substantial. I still think they are a bit overpriced but I guess most watches are 🤣

I honestly think the craftsmanship on this SPB147 is not inferior to the Tudors at 4 times the price. I really don’t.

Seiko sweet spot imho.

I've got a 147 ( well, had- my Better half nicked it, but did buy me a Green Willard so ....) brilliant watch, wish my Seamaster had Seiko's superb diashield coating.

Congratulations, excellent choice 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thank you! Yes I’m pretty glad I went with this over the Citizen Fujitsubo. Both great but this Seiko colour way fills my urge for the Tudor bb58.

I love the Willard! Too bad my wrist is small at 6.5. Those turtles are too big for me

I probably loosened this one when I was at the shop playing with it for the past week 🤣

Congratulations on the watch!

The 62mas lineup has a slightly stiffer bezel compared to the other prospex divers in the same price range.

I bought the 239 as a replacement after I sold my BB58, Seiko case and dial finishing imo are on par with the BB58 and Seiko edges the Tudor when it comes to the dial. Especially the dual finishing on the handset and printing on the dial feel crisper. Both the models bracelet are good but not the best by any margin. Also, the AR coating on the Seiko is better than I had in my BB58, while it was not bad but it was nowhere near good as the Seiko even with the sunburst dial, it was the first thing I noticed when I wore my 239 to work for the first time. The money I put away after selling my BB58 funded my Presage GMT, SPB239 and soon a Willard and MM200.😅

Exactly! Now that I have my cravings for the BB58 fulfilled with my spb147, I have extra funds to get a Christopher Ward Sealander! ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
