Seiko SKX repair video

One of my recent projects finally completed. I’ve never seen this amount of wear inside a ‘modern’ watch, all because of a loose rotor. Anyway, someone might find it interesting

Thank you very much!

Heh, my personal SKX007 has been acting up lately as well. I bought it a few months ago as “Eyecatcher” and “Serviced”. Cosmetically it was great but it was losing time and had no power reserve. Timegrapher showed very low amplitude and the rate was all over the place.

Knowing what I do now after making the video I immediately thought the rotor was loose as well so opened to have a look. Rotor was fine and watch was very clean inside. So clean that there literally wasn’t a drop of oil anywhere to be seen. Balance spring also looked crooked and appeared to be rubbing on top cock.

Anyway, gave it full clean and service and replaced the whole balance assembly. Now it’s running perfectly like the reliable workhorse it is.

Lesson for today: When you buy a “serviced” watch, it’s usually best to check yourself…
