SEIKOAK Watches

I stumbled across these on the interwebs recently. Their tag line is "Homage inspired modded watches". They are currently sold out but the website says the watches will be back in stock at the end of August. Here's the link:

I did find a post on WC from @macrowatchman from about a month ago that introduced these watches, but the post didn't provide much detail. Anybody else here know anything about them? Also, what do you think of them?

I'll be blunt and I apologize in advance if I hurt any owner's feelings.

This is a very common Seiko mod build among the modding community. In fact, it's the one I see the most these days with the integrated bracelet craze. All parts are from Aliexpress and the dial is not OEM (read: $10 fake) so it's technically illegal to sell these watches because of trademark infringement.

Knowing the detailed cost of the parts, I think $450 is on the expensive side but I've seen some people charging up to $650 for similar mods so nothing surprises me anymore. It's not worth that amount, but if you really want this look without learning watch modding, it's an option. Another option would be to get in touch with an hobbyist modder to get a better deal.

  • Seiko "Oak" kit (case, chapter ring, sapphire crystal, bracelet): $35-$50

  • NH35 movement: $30-$35

  • Waffle dial with fake Seiko logo: $10-$15

  • Hands: $5-$10

  • Labor: 2-3 hours

Thanks Beanna. That's really helpful. I didn't know what to make of them as I know next to nothing about the modding community and this wasn't something I had seen before.

My pleasure. I believe transparency is essential in this capitalist world. Now you know the price breakdown of what you're acquiring and can make an informed decision If you want to pay a 3x markup or not.

It's still technically illegal to trade a watch with a fake logo.

Absolutely agree with you about transparency. Now that I am better informed, I shall not be dipping my toes into these waters. I'm not the biggest fan of the integrated bracelet/waffle-style dial combo, so chances are I would have regretted my decision later had I chosen to dive in. Good thing the WC community is around to help. Thanks again.

I recently did a build similar to that for a local, I think I charged $125 for it (about a $100 in parts plus some labor). I will say these are not very comfortable compared to other mod cases you can find. It's not the kind of build I like doing as I prefer using either oem, sterile, or branded ones from nicer mod shops.

Thanks for the offer Jerome but I think I will skip this one.

Thanks for the info, Kellan. Will avoid these.

Hell just go get an auto prx for that price. I like to tinker and mod but not a fan of the seiko oaks. You end up with a watch that doesn't look as good as the prx with cheaper made parts for around the same money.

I like it, but I would prefer it to have a Banana logo instead of the #seiko name, I think it is possible 😂

Plenty of manufacturers on Aliexpress offer personalized logo services so I'm certain you could, if that's what you wish for. 😂
