Sunday Afternoon Horror Post....

Earlier I read post about trying to get our significant others involved in the hobby. I did get my other half into having a decent sized collection of about 25 pieces. But having 25 watches may not mean that you are a collector...keep reading.

I try to take the best care of my watches but giving them the best care and carful use. I do consider my self a collector, yet despite my preservation efforts, there is watch destruction going on under my own roof. It is horrifying not just because it is happening but because there is nothing I can do about it.

Horror #1 Storage

Image

Despite having appropriate accommodations for proper watch storage we just throw them on top of the actual boxes. I could reorganize and put them away but it will return to this in about a week.

Horror #2 Torture Testing

Not only are the watches scratched, dented, and gouged I00% of the quartz watches running are showing the wrong date. Out of the 18 quartz watches in the collection, eight have dead batteries. Don't look at the underside of the watches either or you will see the example pictured.

Bonus Horror - My Parts Bin

Image

If I am going to diss my other half's watch habits I may as well point out one of mine. My parts bin is and has always been a disaster. I have to unload everything to find anything, and sometimes I can't find what I know should be in stock. I've tried again and again to get it under control without any lasting success.

That's my horror rant, let's see you watch horror.

It really is a mess, lol.

No horror here, I run a tight ship. Every watch cared for, batteries replaced, wiped down after each wearing, properly stored...I'm too organized.

That poor vintage Benz Omega doesn’t stand a chance 🥺

Occasionally I will leave one out of a box overnight but for the most part I pay a lot of attention to the collection.

John, don't worry you are officially a collector Brother! LOL You do have a lot ah gear stored away. I always pull the crown out on my quartz pieces when not in use - except my 2 solar pieces. I keep everything in a safe - even G Shocks. Just easier with the wife = no clutter to get into trouble over

Same here I'm very careful with my watches.
