I was today gifted this watch. It is clearly a fake with a standard Chinese automatic movement. The trouble is, I am loathe to discard of it because it works, and could be worn while doing dirty labour (plus I don't want to insult my friend). #conflicted

It's real if you believe hard enough. Or just accept it as a real fake. It could be worse. Some of the real ones are nowhere as attractive.

I accept it for what it is, a Chinese watch of comparable quality to many found on AliExpress.
Nothing wrong with insulting someone who just gave you a fake watch. Unless he knew it was fake before he gave it to you he shouldn't be insulted.
@foghorn I don't know about you, but I don't know anyone that can just give away something that might conceivably be worth 10s of thousands. Clearly my friend knew it was a fake, they just gave it to me because they know of my interest in watches.
Perfect gardening watch. No need to throw away a gift from your friend, even a fake watch has a purpose. I’d say this ones is to make you smile.

Thank you. Another benefit is that I get to practice some basic maintenance without having to worry too much about it.
