Call all divers! What watch do you dive with?

Hey all - I just got PADI open-water certified this last weekend in Redondo Beach, CA and wore my Marathon MSAR for the occasion. I’m curious how many other scuba divers we have here on WatchCrunch! I saw a G-Shock and a Seiko Turtle within My group.

Other than your dive computer, what watches do you like to dive with?

Im afraid the only things I dive into are my babys soiled diapers...thats the extent of danger my watch sees...

·

When I dive (into the wife), I just make sure I am wearing at least 10 ATM haha

·

I can’t dive anymore due to a ruptured ear drum but I had that same watch and used it a lot on/in the water.  A beast of a piece—rugged as hell.

·

I only wear a dive computer when I dive. I love my dive watches but a dive computer just gives me more info and as I’m just an open water diver I don’t feel the need for a back up.

Our dive instructor had a Garmin, not sure which one though. I found that I barely looked at my watch while diving as there is lots of other interesting stuff to see! I mostly relied on the dive computer that came with the rental gear I trained on. It was fun to actually use the dive extension on the Marathon though! It was perfectly sized to fit over my 3.5mm glove

Congrats on your Certina! I really like that one with that domed hesalite crystal!

To be honest, I have found water resistance helpful when washing baby spit-up out of my bracelet and bezel! Congrats on your little one!

Definitely right, a dive computer is so much more useful and necessary. I just wore my diver for fun. it's silly, but diving with the watch is making me appreciate it a little more

Not a diver but I got the MSAR about 6 months ago and it has made it impossible for me to wear any other watch. It's fantastic!

·

I use my watch as a backup to a Garmin as mentioned in this post. I dive mostly with a Resco Patriot Gen 1 or a Marine Master 300m . Once I own an MSAR I doubt I will ever dive with another watch

I double up on the dive computers.  I never have the brain power to use a watch effectively underwater.

·

I desk dive with the best of them and I can desk dive deep! If I had my choice of any diver without absolutely breaking the bank, I’d wear exactly what you did. I love Marathon’s divers!

The deepest I dived was about 1m at the deeper end of the pool...

I plan to take my Tudor BBB on my next dive, but historically I wear the Freestyle piece I picked up on vacation in the Virgin Islands.

Seikos and my new 30 atm Alpina GMT.

Congrats!  I havent had this MSAR very long, but I’m smitten.

Thanks! If I get deeper (heh heh) into diving, this may be something I save up for. Looks awesome!

Those classic Freestyles are a lot of fun! I had one in school in the early 2000s. i bet a Black Bay would be fun to dive with!

Very cool! No mistaking that orange minutes hand!

congrats, I just got my NAUI open water last week at Catalina lol

My classmate was wearing an omega seamaster diver and a standard aqualung dive computer. We were joking that his dive computer is 400 and the omega back up dive watch is 4000

The dive shop founder was also rocking a first gen planet ocean, one I've been stalking on and off for the last few months

The Mako/Ray One of the most underrated watches out there.

I have two gen 1Makos (with the second crown for the day)

way better than some of the sub £1000 Swiss watches I’ve had.

When I was diving, haven’t in years, I wore a 300m Casio as a back up to my dive computer. BTW, I have my Advanced Open Water PADI certification.

Congrats on your certification! I'm looking forward to diving over at Catalina Island one of these days - I've heard it's beautiful. Gorgeous omegas. Those are a long ways out of my price range, but it's fun to daydream about diving with one!
