Monta Noble Review - A Perfect Union?

Can a watch be equal parts dressy, sporty, and just perfect enough to take on everyday duties? I aimed to find out as soon as the Monta Noble showed up on my doorstep a week ago. It has spent the last 7 days on my wrist and WRUW, so much so that a fellow Cruncher asked if I was charging it rent.

Let’s start with the unboxing experience. The high quality box holds precious cargo inside…an even higher quality watch.

Image

A short while after minor adjustment via removal of screwed in links, a perfect fit. The watch comes with a couple of half links and on-the-fly toolless 3 position microadjustment.

Here are some macros to get up close and personal with the Noble. Geneva waves and engraved rotor, crown, and clasp, sunburst gradient dial. For you spec nerds, the Noble’s got you covered. 150m WR, sub 9mm thickness, mirror and brushed finishing.

Time to take it out for a spin. It’s adept at dad duties at school drop off and out exploring with animals. Fit check, matching sweater, jeans, shoes, and watch.

The bears were hungry. It’s well past lunch time.

Is this an IG worthy watch shot?

For an encore, dinner time with the extended family. It’s good to get together. Sneaking a picture between bites, it’s not weird at all.

Image

This is the most versatile watch in my collection thus far, with the ability to seemlessly transition between events and not skip a beat, so to speak.

Will I go back to my other watches? Yes. Will I be looking at watches in the future? Yes, but more selectively. After a week on the wrist, I will say that this watch is perfect for me at this point in my journey, and that is more than enough.

I enjoyed a few weeks with a noble as well but in the end it was actually more dressy than I wanted. The polished bezel was the deciding factor. As much as I like the bracelet, the clasp was too long. Those are my only two complaints for an otherwise great watch!

What did you do with it after a few weeks?

It’s funny you mention a polished bezel cause I have a Khaki Field with a polished bezel too. Maybe I’m drawn to shiny objects and don’t think it’s meant to be dressy.

Great review and photos, buddy. The Monta and duck look delicious🤙

Thank you. I’ll be bringing it to the meetup on 11/11.

Haven’t gotten cleared for that day yet…working on it🤞

The Monta guys told me this would be the most comfortable bracelet I’ve ever tried on. Would you agree with that assessment?

·

Awesome 🤩 review Kev🦄

·

Fantastic review. I didn’t appreciate the thinness of the case until you set out the dimensions. Dial is on point. Would love to see pics if you swap out the bracelet for a leather band. Wear it in good health.

Watch is 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 Enjoyed this review. What is the power reserve?

·

That dial is a beauty 😍💙

·

Great review.

·

Good review, and very classy watch dude! Love that dial.

And while I bet the butterfly clasp is a tad fiddly, man it looks killer! 👌🏻🤙🏻🤘🏻

·

Great review and a beautiful watch. Monta punches far above its sticker price. Hope the people at Montane figure that out 😂.

It is amazing that this microbrand can deliver so much in terms of technical specs. I haven't pulled the trigger on this one because of the shiny bezel. I am leaning towards the formex essence which is about the same size but more sporty.

·

a very nice gada watch! perfect for any occasion

It is the highest quality and most comfortable bracelet I have in my collection. This might sound sacrilegious but the jubilee on my Seiko5 SSK GMT is tied with this one for comfort.

Thanks for this thoughtful review! It’s such a great watch to consider against more expensive options like an Aqua Terra or Datejust. If this watch was a little smaller, I probably would have given it a real close look. I don’t think it’s too big in general, but that much polish on my small wrist works a lot better at 35 or 36mm. I’m sure the current size is optimum for sales. I really dig the brand and it’s great to see them doing so well after their tough start years ago.

I have an Aqua Terra and a Noble. I wear the AT more, but I love my Noble. I got my Noble in pink to differentiate it enough from the AT so that they weren't direct competitors. I will say I enjoy my AT more, but I do think the Noble wears better. It's a more comfortable watch and at 38.5mm, it's a better fit for my 6.9" wrist. My AT is 41mm.

Not at all, Seiko jubilees are comfortable!

I sold it but I will probably try Monta again with a V3 clasp.

Looks like I'm late to the party.

Good review. Fantastic watch. I may be in the minority but I like the polished bezel. I'm also a fan of 6 o'clock date window. Looks like a GADA in spades. But the kicker is the thickness. I had no idea it was that thin until I now. That's impressive. Your a lucky man!

Monta is on my short list. Along with Nodus, Formex, and maybe Smiths. Must be getting ready for a Micro brand phase.

I just wrote a post on how display casebacks were overrated (btw I quickly learned I was in the minority). I sited decreased water resistance, added case thickness and unattractive movements as some reasons. All of which you BLEW out of the water with this beauty.

Congrats on the new watch and the badge it commemorates!

I love the polished bezel and it’s my opinion that matters 🤣. It is a GADA but I wanted to avoid that term in the review. Yes, it is thin and has better WR than some of my diver looking watches.

How long ago was this? Cuz they tweaked the clasp - the swing arm is now more curved now so isn't as long. a minor change that corrected a common complaint.

Yeah I need to try the V3 clasp

Now that's a watch review... whew! The watch looks sharp with a clean style. Monta reviews from watch influencers are popping up nearly on a weekly basis. The issue for me with Monta is that there are a 1000 watches that look exactly like this. Otherwise, very cool timepiece and it is definitely bringing you some watch joy!

Thank you. I don’t have any other social media other than WC so I didn’t know that there are Monta influencers. Can I get sponsored? 🤣😂😭

I see where you’re coming from that there are lots of watches that look like it. I’m ok with that as it matches my personality. I’m good being understated.

Definitely a watch I would buy

cool watch and cool story bro!

Just catching up on the reviews and spotted this. A great review of course with excellent photos. I think I fell for the watch immediately as this is my favorite style of watch. I then skedaddled over to their website and that sinking feeling happened again as it is beyond my means at the moment. But forget my woes, what a wonderful watch, congratulations Kevin.
