Watch running really really slow

Bit of an odd case here, noticed yesterday when wearing my vintage Rotary that it wasn't keeping time at all, took it off and replaced it halfway through the day, as something to check out today. Been taking a look over it, got it on my accuracy checker app, returning a result of -1s/day, manually timed how long it took the seconds hand to make a full rotation around the dial, exactly 60 seconds. However, the watch lost 10 minutes in 20 minutes, indicating to me that for whatever reason the minute hand is running at half speed. Any advice about what to do here? Is there anything I can do at all?

I had a vintage watch that would get stuck sometimes but kept good time when it was running. Maybe your watch keeps good time but stopped for half your test period

Possible, but worrying given it did the same yesterday, would indicate it may be a regular issue rather than a one-off. It is a beautiful watch in person and I've never seen another being sold anywhere so I think it's fairly rare, so I'd hate to never be able to wear it again.

Take it to an experienced watchmaker.

The rings of a hairspring can stick to themselves requiring a firm bump to get them to release (if lucky). Perhaps something like that happened then came free. Although I will say I think that more typically results in a watch all of the sudden running way way fast as the stuck springs mimic a shorter hairspring. But if it is keeping time that great now whatever it was seems to have popped back into place. Lovely watch!

Sounds like it needs a service. I think the watch is from the 70's, hand winding? They come up from time to time on eBay, gifted one to my nephew as the integrated bracelet was too small for me.

Not a great deal of value in these but, if you are looking to get it serviced I did source a watchmaker who does Rotary, https://time-repairs.com/watch-and-clock-repairs/rotary/, I didn't send the watch off for repair so cannot vouch for how good he is.

I second the idea that it could be positional. Also just check when the hands cross that they aren't sticking. But a service may be the only way to put it right, which probably isn't cost effective 😕

No I didn't check in multiple positions, can't remember amplitude but beat error was coming back at 0.4ms

Yeah, 70s, and yes to hand-winding. £85 service cost isn't horrible, but would be twice the price I paid for the watch again. Might be worth doing to be fair, but I won't enjoy it 😂

Unfortunately not keeping time, the seconds hand is moving properly, but the minute and hour hands seems to be getting stuck. Thinking it'll probably need a service.

Mine was a bit more serious, snagged the balance wheel spring whilst putting the movement back in the case I had just re-brushed and polished. Definately not worth the cost of repairing.

Maybe the oils are dried out?..

Unfortunately I think it may be service time, shame as I've only owned this one a couple of months, but them's the joys of vintage watch collecting I guess. Not the most cost efficient but hey, someone posted a link earlier to someone who quoted £85 for a full service, so if I can get something around that or slightly under, happy days.
