My garage sale story

So my wife had two 20 year old quartz Coach and Bulova ladies watches that someone at our garage sale wanted to buy. The batteries were dead and hadn’t been removed for 20 YEARS!! I figured they were junk and a leaky mess and so I quoted $50. The guy countered at $25 and so I accepted. My wife was steaming mad and accused me of “giving away” great brand name watches. I tried to explain they probably wouldn’t run but she wouldn’t listen. What do you think?

I mean, heat of the moment, you probably got the best possible outcome.

But... this is a no win for you at this point. Say, "You're right dear" and move on.

I do the same thing at our yard sales. My wife is trying to make money and I’m just trying to get rid of all our junk!! Me, “$0.25? Sounds good to me!” My wife, “What? I can’t believe you did that!!!!”

It's a Schrödinger's cat. Generally the smaller the battery, the smaller the chance of an absolute mayhem.

Buy your wife a proper watch and see her change her view on watches!

Men to the left because women are always right. 🤣😬

·

As long as the watch battery has not leaked there is a good chance they will come back to life for a couple dollars.

If she didn’t know they were on the table, it’s a fair complaint. If she knew they were in play, they are fair game.

This having been said, (and to give future us a different option), you probably should have, altogether now!, popped the back & looked. You might have gotten $100 for them for a $5 outlay and 20 minutes.

Well, if they were YOUR watches you'd probably be pretty pissed too...
