Opinion on ?

Really been looking into this watch as I think the combination of the green fail with the brushed metal is just amazing. Read somehwere on here that the prices of these oris aquis watched plummet over time like the cherry apparently being almost $1000 under retail on websites like Jomashop. Anybody know more about this ? Anybody who owns this watch and has an opnion about it ? Every sort of input would be greatly appreciated :)

To be honest most watches that are not Rolex, Patek, AP, etc. Prices plummet. Always look in the second hand market before you buy retail or grey market. I found myself almost buying a vintage Omega thinking the prices where going up so decided to wait and went to Japan and found it for 500 bucks less (the watch god's were looking out for me).

Haha true, not necessarily seeing watches as investments and buying a certain watch in hopes the price will go up but definitely looking for the best deal possible on the pieces I want . Thank you

Oris makes a hell of a watch, and the Aquis model definitely does not disappoint. I have the anthracite dial with their caliber 400 movment in my collection, and its exquisite. If you find a good deal on the New York Harbor, go for it. I highly doubt it'll disappoint you!

Oris is a great brand , I have seen a few of them in the wild and I think they look excellent.

I say go for it !

You can't go wrong with an Oris, unless you get a nightmare fuel vintage one with a pin-pallet movement! Don't worry that much about resale value, everything in this world tanks after a while. While some big names might see an increase above retail, that's more an exception than anything else. I'll try and relate it to cars:

"I really like this BMW 320d, but I'm worried it will lose value."

It will, just as anything below a Ferrari Enzo and Porsche Carrera GT.

Do a little bit of looking around (which is my favourite part of buying a watch) before you pull the trigger. I love the dial and the Aquis has proven itself many times over. Good luck!

Probably the minority here but I’ve always felt like Oris is priced too aggressively compared to something like a Longines, Nomos or Tudor.

Yeah I definitely get that, thanks for the imput !

I haven’t been disappointed with the Aquis. I have the anthracite dial with calibre 400 and absolutely love it. I purchased from retail with a decent discount from MSRP. I don’t pay much attention to the value post purchase. Just enjoying a great watch and you should too. 😉

With their 400 calibre, I think they are up there though.
