What’s a watch that others hated but you loved?
I’ll go first, this one wasn’t hated per say but it wasn’t well received, that’s for sure.
this is the Seiko Presage Ginza, I love the watch face and I appreciate the open heart because I feel like you can appreciate the movement more, yes it’s not a complete skeleton and others argue it takes from the watch face but I enjoy it.
comparatively, the Alpinist came out with a watch face of the same design and was widely loved.
I love my watch, its my first “luxury” watch purchase with my first pay check, so Maybe it’s more sentimental. What are your thoughts?

I think if the watch had just been released on its own, there wouldn't have been half the commentary made about it. The 'problem' is that the other Ginza was an Alpinist, which is a model of Seiko's that has a totally obsessive audience. And I say that in a good and genuine way. People are NUTS for Alpinists. Conversely, I've never sensed much of a cult around Presage watches. Cocktail Time, maybe. Anyway, today, especially online, if there are two things and one is perceived to be really good, the other "has" to be really bad. It's like people can't live and let live. I think the watch is absolutely fine... I own one, as you recently saw in another thread. I really like the open heart design that drives so many other folks to distraction. I don't want every watch in my collection to be open heart, but there's a place for that design, and I'm glad I have one. I think this one's popularity (and price), will only increase in time. Wear it in good health!
I have 2: the Ulysses Nardin Freak and the Jacob & Co Bugatti. I know they look incredibly ugly but I still want one :)
IWC Ingenieur 357002. Most people hate this model b/c IWC moved away from the Genta-inspired integrated bracelet design and it contains an ebauche sellita movement vs. an in-house movement. However, I love it.
I tried on a ton of watches from multiple luxury brands on my last trip to Chicago and this is the one that stood out. Amazing bracelet with micro-adjust and classic looks. Great execution of the date window. Great lume and water resistance. This watch will go with anything. It also looks way better in person than in photos. I also got a huge discount from an AD b/c the model is discontinued. I love this watch.
