They purchased Bucherer becau they could. At this point they basically own the watch trade. They can do anything they want.

I watch a lot of Oisin, one of the more free thinking you tubers with a devil may care attitude. Also some of the stuff which he produces is head and shoulders above anything else and he’s a great interviewer. He makes a lot of interesting point in that.
Makes sense but we'll have to see whether this is just a first step toward Rolex taking over the retail side or just what O'Malley is saying.
I think there is truth in what he says, it that doesn’t exclude the possibility that Rolex is also aiming to control as much of its distribution as possible. It will be interesting to see if and how the other major watch players react. For example, will Swatch buy Watches of Switzerland?
That's how Bucherer is pronounced?
The Michael Jackson reference is interesting as he was obviously killed by people that wanted that Beatles catalogue. Has Rolex placed itself in similar danger?
