Under the heading of "a watch is a watch", any thoughts? Could Indian manufacturers do the same w automatic movement's?

I'm old, from SOCAL, Northern Nevada, and now Alabama. I seek variety, quality, and something that piques my interest. I do not invest in watches but strongly admire quality/ $$.

Absolutely, as could any country including China. If they produce a well made and reliable watch that can be serviced, people will follow.
I for one would like to see India manufacture mechanical watches. If they could resist the temptation to rip-off Swiss watch designs (China, I'm looking at you), I'm fascinating to see what aesthetics the diverse Indian culture would bring.

India is a huge manufacturing influence in the asian watch industry. long ago they got the rights to make the Miyota 8xxx series movements.
