Resurrect a watch (replace mouvement) and need help :)

I want to resurrect a broke watch. I don't want to throw it away because this watch is from my grandfather.

About the watch :

It's a relatively modern quartz watch from Migro (M Watch). The curent movement is a 515 quartz Ronda. here's the general specs : Lignes 11 1/2”’
Diameter 26mm
Casing Diameter 25.6mm
Height 3mm thick

My project :

Replace it by a automatic or handwind movement. The dimensions have to be the same but I think the case could support a 3,5mm height movement.

I try to make some research but I found nothing. I think because of the thickeness, only handwind movements could work.

If you have idea of mouvement that matches with the dimensions It will be awesome.

Or if you have any other solutions ?

Thank's

Why would you go backwards in technology? The stock movement is available and will offer no issues.

·

What about the hands? They have to match the movement.

I know and the ronda movement is not expensive but it's a watch I tend to keep for long time so If I found a mechanical movement it would be cool.

your question shows I'm probably not able to make that myself... because I don't have answers.

Changing the movement of a watch itself requires a bit of hands-on experience. However, to change it with any other movement than the original one is very, very, very difficult. By saying difficult, I am not implying physical skill, you need to do a lot of research and even trial and error.

You cannot use the old hands, you need to get new hands for the new mechanism. Height of the hands must fit under the glass.

You cannot use the old stem, and need to adjust the new stem and re-install to crown on new stem.

Last but not least, you need to find a proper adapter ring (to hold the movement steady inside the case), which is maybe the hardest thing to find.

So my advice, never try it. If the movement inside the watch is not working, replace it with a new one. If you are not into watchmaking, changing the movement with a new one itself is enough challenge.

thank's for all this information. and yes more I see opinions of others in this project more I think I will just replace the old movement by a same new one.
