Watches of artists/filmmakers/photographers?

I’m a storyboard artist Aspiring to a 1 watch collection.

Does anyone know of any or experience in their own lives, beyond the really famous like Cameron with Rolex, As an artist and I have always thought about which watch would Someone like me wear for functionality in a dream scenario where an artist actually needed one, in reality I end up using a 3 hander with date the most, I’ve used cronos and divers to time how long I’ve been working sat down but in the end I find personally I end up just using the time and writing it down in my sketchbook and if I’m in the studio I try to rely on my memory. My gshock did the job and still does in the gym but the utilitarian design of the square and digital display though useful just doesn’t inspire me to stare at it and ponder how i will solve an artistic problem while i watch the seconds sweep.

I’ve been getting more and more irked by beeps and timers and things like that and find I just need to remember when I did something. Maybe i just use a scrap piece of paper.

Since having a child i’ve become very conscious of things that make noises lol. Trying to be more zen and aware. Arguably the most useful watch i ever owned as an artist was the apple Watch but after 4 years of use I realised that it was causing me too much anxiety but man that thing has god tier timing functionality.

Anyway would be great to hear experiences of other creatives who use their watch daily and actively on the job.

the idea of getting paid enough to afford this for me is nuts as an artist I’m doing something wrong lol.

The artistic and philosophical sides of timepieces resonate with and inspire me as well. I’ll just gaze at my Grand Seiko Minamo, with a dial brilliantly depicting a lake and the perfect sweep of a gold second hand. It has no staccato but smooth and constant flow just like time. Reminds me every moment is a treasure and not to waste however much I have left.

A Grand Seiko piece with Spring Drive may suit you. Smooth, perfectly quiet, no battery, minimal friction (low maintenance). Many options with or without date. And everything in dials from the subdued to the most artistic you can find. The power reserve indicator has been on the front until some additions in the past year, which are thinner and have more power reserve. Most automatic but the dateless ice blue "Omiwatari" below is a manual-wind. If you have only one watch, it's another fun interaction to wind it regularly.

I strongly agree with Bewer above on GS as a whole. If any watch brand can, almost across the board, serve a function and give you an almost calming feeling to look/wear its GS. Even some of the more affordable models, like SBGM221, have high end finishing and soothing color schemes.
