PT5000 Movement, what's been your experience so far?

I have 2 watches with the PT5000 movement, both from San Martin and both have performed very well since buying them, a little over a year now.

However, while shopping during the 11.11 sale, I am wondering why San Martin is not offering the option to choose this movement, or SW200 in newer models, and straight up have the NH35 or NH34 in the watches. Is it purely a pricing decision?

Being curious if there are issues with this movement, I checked in youtube if there are any, or what watch tinkerers have to say about it. And here I found a recent tinkering of this movement:

It seems San Martin is attempting to offer lower prices in recent models by using more NH35 movements and pinned bracelets, etc. Maybe that's the reason for fewer PT5000, SW200 movements. I haven't heard of widespread problems with the PT5000. Maybe others know more.

Yeah I suspect the same. I have some watches with the NH35 and they're ok too. But the 4hz 28,800 bph of the PT5000 just gives the seconds hand a tad smoother sweep and I don't mind paying the extra money for it, given the option. Though some up and coming brands such as IX&DAO does have the PT5000 and Swiss movements option, which is really good.

I think SM chooses NH 34/35 cos you can repair,or replace them, anywhere anytime .

That's also a fairly good reason to choose that movement

Same here 👍🏻 unfortunately I can't same the same for the NH35. I received my recent order for a San Martin SN0113W V2, and after a day on my wrist the movement was slowing down and I believe it is stopping 😔
