Checked out some watches today in Dallas at Jack Mason

With a whopping 6 or 7 people showing interest in the post @TimeToDesign had made sometime ago for a watch meet up/ vendor display in Dallas, I expected it to be a small venue with a few people here & there simply hanging out & enjoying watches.

To my surprise A LOT of people showed up. (Far more than pictured above) Obviously, the invites made their way far beyond WatchCrunch.

There's bound to be quite a few posts incoming through out the rest of the day so I'll speak about a few quick things that stuck with me from the visit. (For reference my wrist is just shy of 7")

Of course with this being hosted at Jack Mason's "HQ" in Dallas I had to check out their new selection of Diver's & GMT's. Heard whispers online of the adjustable clasp being "a little long". In person its not bad at all. Plenty of adjustment & the action was rather smooth. I will admit the crown is a tad small for my liking but wouldn't stop me from purchasing this piece. Bezel action on all models was top notch & the multilink bracelet on the GMT models was extremely comfortable.

I scoffed at 36mm in the past. They just look so dainty in cases & in pictures. Lorier brought out plenty of models & one happened to be their 36mm Falcon. I tried it on & have to admit, it changed my perception. I wasn't a fan of acrylic crystals & that went out the window too. The clarity is fantastic. Crown was a great size for a smaller watch & the winding action was butter.

I had heard of Dryden from YouTube videos & Watch articles occasionally but didn't pay much attention. Most of the common variants/ colorways make their way to the reviewers but they had some on display here that were different. This slate dial Heartlander & steel bezel Chronograph where big standouts to me personally but all of the dial options were really great color choices by the company. These are staying on my radar.

After years of online pictures & YouTube videos, I finally got to see Formex in person. Truly impressive. Bezel action on the divers is perfect. The winding action of the crown is so smooth it almost doesn't feel like its connected to the movement. The quick adjust mechanism on the leather & rubber straps is brilliant & not as bulky as I thought. The dials on every model were the star of the show. The red dial here was so hard to photograph. It was a different shade in every picture. Their new "splash" collection of colors are fun as well. The yellow is my pick.

All in all had a great time & hope this can become an annual or even semi-annual event here in Dallas for the people who may not be able to make it to Worn & Wound's Wind-up Watch show that makes it's way across the country. Just wanted to say thanks to everybody who got this together for us to experience these brands in person.

Wish I could’ve made this, but glad it was a large turnout. Thanks for the update.

Great event! So awesome to meet the brands and put faces to them. I have so much respect for these people and getting to meet them just makes you love this hobby even more.

Thank you for coming and showing the support! The WC invite was most definitely not the best indication of attendance as we had over 300 people come through!

Looks like a killer space. TSAO Baltimore was there as well?
