New IWC Portofino Models

IWC did another quiet release updating some of the smaller Portofino Models (targeted toward ladies). Similar to the new Mark XX, the updates are subtle but a strong improvement over the old models. IWC is also no longer using ebauche sellita movements in favor of the "in-house" (Val Fleurier) movements.  They are also now offering a 5 link bracelet as opposed to just the Milanese bracelet. Water resistance appears to have been increased from 30m to 50m.

I'm sure updates will come to the larger models soon. I'd really love to see the 40mm models move down to 39mm, but we will see. At a minimum, it looks like larger models with new movements should come soon that will also include dial improvements and a new bracelet option.

I'm very excited. I've been waiting for a refresh of the Portofino line for a while. I liked a lot about the old models and saw so much potential in the line but they just weren't quite right to me. Upgrades will make these watches way more competitive in the marketplace.

Thanks for the update! I’m indifferent to the IWC Portofino line. But I do appreciate how IWC is quietly making updates. I LOVE the new Mark XX and i am excited to see what other things IWC will be doing.

Portofinos deserved to be reduced in size to suit their more elegant aesthetic. they could even have gone down another mmm or two.

IWC (like Tudor and others it seems) seem to be quite in touch with where the market is going - this downsizing trend is very welcome by me.

Thanks for sharing.

Looks like the trend is moving towards in-house movement for quite a few brands.

I guess the Ingenieuer line and the Aquatimer line will be getting an update soon as well?

Thanks for the update! the moonphase complication is beautiful.

Very nice updates - I agree the moonphase is particularly lovely and the Portofino looks so much better "in real life". There is also a new 39mm Portofino chronograph.

The Aquatimer has had a quiet update, same case with the new movement - I doubt there will be much more on this for a while and in fact I don't feel regular case changes do the brand any favours. I have a funny feeling the Ingenieuer update will be with us soon.

Aquatimer already got some new models with in-house movements not long ago.

I guess I expected at least a one more colourway, and some big noise around it because ... well... dive watch.

Looking forward to the next iteration of the Ingeniuer!

Me too. I have the black dial model that was recently discontinued. Curious to see a new model with a blue dial.
