Watch photography

With all the Watch content I have really been loving photography and wanting to get into it. I thought it would be another way to enjoy my watches, without just buying more and more. Any suggestions on beginner cameras or suggestions for getting started?

Personally and maybe that's me loving tech on phones. I would start with what you have your phone.

You can buy a box for taking pictures:

The photos come out pretty nice and just adjust your phone photo brightness.

With my current phone I have a macro lens but you can also buy some lenses. If you have an iphone they have better photography accessories.

Play with your photos get creative.

Also playing with the editing software you can make pics more punchy.

Now if you want to get into photography as a whole. I'm sure some members that can give you some nice suggestions for a point and shoot or DSLR.

Hanhart looks great on that strap, sir. Very nice choice.

If you go the DSLR Camera route, just make sure to pick up a macro lens for it.

I bought a $20 thread adapter so I can use my nice used 70's Pentax Macro lens on my modern bayonet mount Pentax DSLR.

But phone cameras nowadays are getting really good and convenient. If your phone has a macro setting, that's great, or you can buy a macro phone lens as said above.

That's cool. Go get into it! Like you said, it will make your watch collecting more fun and enjoyable.

Though I've been into photography for quite some time now, I second the motion of @JJMM1983. Here are some examples of shots I took from my phone camera (Samsung A20)...

Should you wish, you can enhance your photos using a photo editing app. I use Snapseed mobile app as my default. Enjoy! 🍻

Welcome to WC - hope you haven’t injured yourself too badly falling into the rabbit hole!

See as many photos as you can and try to figure out why certain photos appeal to you. This will help develop your photographic style/eye. Photography is the easiest art form to do (you ‘just’ press a button) but it’s the most difficult one to have a personal style (because you just press a button).

Like others have said, you don’t ‘need’ a new camera. Getting a new one may be ‘inspiring’ but may also add another challenge whilst you get to grips with it.

If you need help, feel free to ask as there are plenty of good photographers here! Feel free to enter @Deeperblue ’s weekly photo comp to whet your creative palette! Good luck and have fun!
