First 'Real' Watch?

Visited some family recently and somehow or another the conversation got onto Watch Crunch (zero surprises there ๐Ÿ˜‚). They mentioned they thought they had an old watch of mine somewhere...so off they went and finally after much searching of cupboards and drawers they found it. An old Nike watch.

I can't really remember it myself but apparently I had this for a few years from when I was a very young lad and was my first 'real' watch. Cue the inevitable cries of its just a 'terrible quartz fashion watch' or look at the '12 Patek Phillipe's I had from birth' ๐Ÿ˜‚ - that's not the point I'm getting at as to very young me this would have been a real, serious adult watch!

My point to all that preamble is that it got me thinking about what my fellow Watch Crunchers first 'real' (real to you anyway!) watch was? If you still have it lets see those pictures!!

I've just gone through to your post and I think it was an...interesting choice. I love that you still have it btw, it's a part of your watch history forever now ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

I had no idea that Nike ever had branded watches like that - it looks pretty cool.

Like @foghorn , I'm of a vintage where I don't recall what my first watch was, but I recently stumbled across an old Timex mechanical watch I had as a teenager back in the 70s. I recall wearing a watch since I was in the 3rd grade, so although this wouldn't have been my first watch, it certainly could have been my second.

Great topic! So fun to have a relic like that re-enter your life! I wish there were some old watches of mine to find. I don't remember anything specific, except a Timex Ironman. The others must not have been "special!"

From childhood, my first real watch was a Seiko automatic with a blue face. My Dad gave it to me as a gift after his trip to Japan. I think I was 4 or 5 yrs old then. I just had to shake it to make it run. But the first watch I bought for myself was on my 1st year as a professional. I got myself a Timex Camper field watch with an olive green face and pass through NATO.ย
