Slight wildcard - Casio LTP-V00 range...tank style dress watch for £50ish. It's listed as a ladies watch but check out some real-life wrist shots before dismissing it outright.
I've been on a smaller watch bender over the last 12 months and have had one for around 8 months and until my most recent purchase was my go to daily - no issues with mine hitting the markers although ultimately as you've seen in videos your milage may vary (if I wanted to be ultra pedantic then between 12 and 1 it might be a microscopic amount off). Way better in the flesh this model as well. I'm sure your brother will love it.
I built up slowly, have a range of watches but really only wear my expensive one now. Each to their own though.
