New to me early 60s Croton Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver

Just arrived and loving it. Marketed as the ”super chronograph” in the 60s the Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver was the Apple Watch of its time, offering a dive bezel and 200 metres water resistence, a tachymetre, yachting countdown, and a 12 hour bezel for tracking different time zones. Produced by Nivada Grenchen it was sold under the US distributor’s name Croton stateside, as Movado successfully blocked Nivada watches from the US arguing the similarity to its name would cause confusion. Over the years the watches were equipped with different movements beginning with the Venus 210, then the Valjoux 92 like this one and then moving on to the Valjoux 23, Landeron 248 and Valjoux 7733.

Very interesting watch and you can see that it has lived, not just existed.

Lots of great designs. It’s amazing just how many iterations there were.  There was even a “Newman“ dial. Would be easy to just collect CASDs.

That’s how I like ‘em. Wearable. Not sure what I’d do with a mint never worn vintage watch. Cheers
