My fiance just nabbed me this bad boy as an engagement present. At least she has good taste in watches. In men? I can't say.
LeCoultre Futurmatic Porthole from 1955. Looks like the power reserve is a bit misaligned but not seen one in the metal before this so if anyone can reassure me, great!

The first backwinder. She's a keeper (meaning both).
nice choice, btw whats the red subdial mean?

Cheers! It's the power reserve. There's no winding crown, so it's actually bloody useful to have.

That's seconds. On the original version of the watch they were both subdials, which looks slightly less odd. But I like odd.
Awe......love is timeless. She's a keeper. I mean your fiance. Nice watch for a engagement gift. Lucky guy!
Just remember when your married this great saying to the wife. "I promise just one more watch "
Have a wonderful life!
Cheers!
Very interesting watch, and congratulations on the engagement!
Definitely marry that woman of exquisite taste.

I never promise what I can't deliver ;P
Struggling to find the words (I’ve been up for 48hrs) - so I’ll just say… very nice.
It's almost like they deliberately designed the movement so that the complications on the dial didn't look haphazardly placed! There are some makers today that could learn from this.

How is it wound?
This was an important and innovative watch, I highly recommend you read up on it. JLC actually lost money on every one they sold. The porthole version is the one to have.
I owned one years ago but sold it.
She loves you a lot if gave such quite rare and expensive present 👏👍
